Your role
You play a critical role in the long-term success of your surgery. You will need to:
- Commit to improve your health.
- Discuss your health problems with your surgeon
- Inform yourself as much as you can on the surgery before making a decision
- Listen carefully to the advice given by the surgeon
- Follow all instructions on preparing for surgery, including diet advice, physical activity, nutritional and vitamin supplements
- Agree to attend the clinic for follow up
- Make sure you have the recommended blood test
The surgeon’s role
Your surgeon will do everything possible to protect your health before, during and after your operation. He will:
- Listen to you and evaluate you as a possible candidate for surgery
- Explain the operation, the risks and benefits
- Answer your questions
- Advise you on the best operation for you
- Follow up to help your recovery and keep you on the right track
